What’s a celebration fitting of a country’s 100th birthday? A little time travel.
On 16 February 1918, the Act of Independence of Lithuania was signed in Vilnius. Back then, the city felt much different, although it was still the multicultural mix it is today. As part of an ambitious plan for a memorable Centennial celebration, we invite you to travel back to Vilnius in 1918 with a special event.
From 9 to 18 February 2018 the streets of Vilnius’ Old Town will be transformed to mimic the look and feel of the city as it was in 1918. The nameplates of some streets will be changed to reflect the naming from a century ago. Restaurants will serve food that’s a lot like the typical dishes from the early 20th century. Plus, you’ll be able to join a guided tour and see the most important historical sights.
All events are free for anyone to attend. For more information, visit www.vilnius1918.lt
