This is one of the oldest churches not only in Vilnius but also in Lithuania, which has preserved almost unchanged features of Gothic style. The Church was first mentioned in 1387.
At the beginning of the 20th century this Church was the only church in Vilnius to hold services in Lithuanian. At the same time it was the centre for Lithuanian culture.
